Solar Energy Project

Your Donations Help Improve Lives

We have embarked on our most ambitious project to date; We are currently working on a plan to meet Cornwall College's electric power needs in the 21st century with solar energy.

Through a variety of charitable fundraising events CCAA will give back to communities where there is a need for support through: walkathons, Fish Fry, Charity Galas, and online donations. The money donated to CCAA will have a direct impact on improving the education of kids from impoverished communities. For example, in Canada CCAA will assist in community such as Emerging Global Leaders Program, Care and Share program and E mentorship program. In Jamaica, CCAA will provide educational equipment to high schools and ensure the donated equipment is maintained and serviced.

Our Mission: The mission of CCAA (Canada) is the promotion of early childhood education with a special focus on children of High school age in situations of racial, cultural or economic disadvantage. As such, our goal is to be responsive, mobilizing and supporting community efforts to provide a positive learning environment for young children by facilitating parent and teacher education and providing practical forms of assistance for the learning context. The Cornwall College Alumni Association is committed to improving education in impoverished communities in Canada and Jamaica.

Next Project?

Your Donations Help Improve Lives

What will our next project be? We welcome suggestions as we forge forward in helping to build our nation in whatever capacity we are able to.

Cornwall College goes solar

The first phase of the Solar Project was successfully completed. This phase covered the administrative building but more importantly, it will give us vital data to assess the practical validity of the project. Our very own (CCAA Canada) Charles Gordon was present to cut the ribbon for the official launch of the Solar Project. Once again, a big thank you to every one that donated and/or supported the project. However, the job is not done so we will continue to push on to meet our ultimate goal.

CCAA Canada Donates to AJAA Scholarship Programme

In 2010 CCAA Canada was the proud sponsor of a scholarship at the Alliance of Jamaica Alumni Association (AJAA) graduate scholarship program. Our sponsorship helped an individual to attend college.

Cornwall College Library Upgraded

The library upgrade combined with other initiatives at the school contributed to steady and palpable improvements in the students' performance in the CXC and GCE Examinations. At the CXC Advanced Proficiency Level, passes increased from 82% in 2008 to 88% in 2009, and at the other level, from 80% to 85% in 2009. We anticipate greater improvement in future examination results.

Quote from the principal's end of year report: "The upgrading of the library by the Canadian Chapter created much envied facillity in secondary schools in Western Jamaica".
